Fun Things Ahead

It’s Wednesday, my publish-my-blog day, and I am wanting to write a more newsy post, as there is some news! But I’ll get to that in just a minute, as I just want to give you a quick update on how my four week “intro journey” with my blog went.

If you read my first blog, How I Coached Myself to Move Through Inner Conflict, Resistance, and Fear to Write My First Blog Post, you might remember that I committed to write a post once a week for four weeks and then reevaluate.

Well - last week was week number four, and I missed my publishing date. I am actually Ok with that. I had a family crisis that I needed to attend to immediately on Tuesday and Wednesday. To stay on target, I would’ve had to write in the evenings which I wasn’t willing to do. I still could’ve worked on it over the weekend, but decided to wait til this week as I wanted to spend time with my husband over the weekend - and relax after a late night gig!

I am happy to say that I did not force myself to do anything, I did not obsess about missing my self-imposed deadline, berate myself up - or give up. Here I am, back at it and it feels good. That is definitely progress for me. I used to be an all or nothing kind of girl and any little blip would bother me obsessively.

On to the news... One of my favorite things in the world is talking to people - having sit-down, heart to heart talks about life - and music. I am thrilled to tell you that I have created a situation where I get to do this thing that makes me so happy!

Daniel Townsend, a jazz guitarist and songwriter, and I are launching a podcast in two weeks called, Meaningful, Musical Conversations. Each podcast, we will be interviewing a guest, talking about all things music, and music related. I have a long list of people I am inviting and am so awed and grateful for all the amazing people I know that I can’t wait to have on, get to know even better - and share with the world!

Podcast will launch in two weeks!

Our guests will include musicians from different genres, music educators, songwriters, sound engineers and producers, as well as artists whose work is inspired by music, such as dancers, choreographers and visual artists. While we are currently doing in-person interviews, we hope to eventually do remote interviews with people from around the world.

If you listen to our first podcast where we interview each other, you’ll find out about how Daniel and I know each other and how we decided to do this - which happened absolutely effortlessly. I have to say, we are collaborating together in such an enjoyable, harmonious way. We just finished composing and producing our music intro today, finished the logo, and all the little pieces are coming together.

This project is very exciting to me. And meaningful. I will say more about that at another time!

The last thing I want to say is that, given the new project, I’ve decided to adjust the timing on my blog and will post every other week. I realize that I am really enjoying writing, and in fact, I like spending more than the weekly two hours I’d committed to, so taking that into consideration along with my new project I am going to pace myself!

Wherever you are at this moment, I wish you peace and wellbeing.

Til next time... Love,

Jill
